| - Well, what is there to be said that hasn't been already?
I was recently summoned to fulfill my civic duty as a juror, and unlike EVERYONE else on this planet, I don't necessarily mind it. Is it weird that I was upset that I wasn't chosen for a jury? Anyways....
The Regional Justice Center is a fairly nice building. Parking is at the Fremont Street Experience, which is a few blocks away. After checking in for your duty, they will validate your parking so it's free. Not too shabby!
Plan extra time for security, although it moved quickly, the line was out the door and down the stairs (and it was HOT). Just like air travel - leave your weapons, metal, etc at home.
Jury Services is located on the 3rd floor and easily accesible by escalator. It's a fairly large room with plenty of seating. Definitely bring a book or headphones for your phone/tablet/laptop because there isn't much else to do.
Once everyone arrived, we were called up to check-in by row. So, if you don't want to wait, sit up front. The same applied when we were called up to have our parking validated and when it was time to check-out, so keep that in mind.
There is a Capriotti's on the ground floor, but I figure it gets pretty busy. My suggestion is to eat before you arrive, and if you need a snack, there is a vending machine in the jurors lounge. I was surprised that there was a lounge - it had chairs and a couple of couches, with a tv.
Most importantly: DON'T COMPLAIN!! There are much worse places to be and things to do, and it's your duty as a citizen. It's something we all go through, and although it's time consuming, it's not THAT horrible.
