| - A lot of professional restaurant critics have called this the most romantic restaurant in Las Vegas, and I would be hard pressed to disagree. The view is fabulous and unique. There are several high-end restaurants on the Strip that have a great "God's eye view" from 50+ stories high, but the view here is more intimate - about 10 stories up and nestled right among some of the prettiest hotels in Vegas including the Bellagio and Caesar's Palace. The interior of the room is also beautiful and (if I recall correctly - it's been a while) is modeled after it's namesake restaurant in the "other" Paris.
Three of our party had the tasting menu, and we all liked it. Every course had flavor and flair. Judging the food against it's peers at, say, Alize or Le Cirque, I thought the flavor fell just a wee little bit short, but that's putting it in with some stiff competition.
My wife opted for the regular menu. She started with the scallops, which she pronounced to be excellent. She also raved over a side of potatoes au gratin. But she thought her salmon entree was not that good. Still, there were a lot of other attractive choices on the menu, so the down tick on the salmon wouldn't keep us from going back. My wife and I split a dessert of pastry, white chocolate and bananas, which was just fabulous.
The room was pretty packed on a Friday night, which slowed up the service just a little bit. Still, the wait staff was attentive and helpful on questions, if not overly personable.
So that leaves the issue of price, and you have to go in with the attitude that price is not an issue. The tasting menu is going to set you back between $200 and $300 per person - more if you get the wine pairings. But this is a place for a special occasion, and if you can afford it I think you won't be disappointed. If you can't afford it, try going downstairs to Mon Ami Gabi for some really fine French food without the need for a second mortgage.
