  • So I went to DB in Scarborough twice in the past few months in search of my wedding items, so here goes. The first time around (January 2012), I called and made an appointment during the week for 7PM (again, I avoided bridals stores on weekends like the plague!!! be warned!!) and went with a colleague who was also shopping for a dress. I had spent a lot of time on their website, so I thought I had a good handle on what to expect in terms of the collection. As mentioned here, when you get there, they usually hand you a book and tell you to put stickies on the dresses you like so that your consultant can pick them out. Our consultant Marlise was with us in about 5 minutes and was a DREAM to work with. She was friendly, and even though it might have been overwhelming to have two brides, we were patient and she brought some suggestions that fit all the things we asked for. Given that it was both of our first times shopping for dresses, we were all over the map and had some hits, and big misses - but thats the point of trying on dresses. Sitting home and looking at thin, photo-shopped models cant even being to prepare you for your reaction when YOU are in the dress. So overall, it was a great positive exploratory beginning and we were out of there in about 1 hour, unfortunately with no dream picks. I said I would come back with my bridal party to see the bridesmaid section. Fast forward to February, I returned with my sister and her kids on a Friday night and had an appointment. They call you to remind you of your appointment by the way. This time around, my consultant was Bianca. I think it must have been a very long day for her as I found her energy was close to none existent. I had very specific dress picks, and went and even got them myself as she stood by and watched. I also needed junior bridesmaid dresses, and so I showed her the picks in the book and she went and brought the dresses. Essentially, I felt like I did all the work - seeing how the kids looked, going and picking alternatives etc. She never gave any comments, smile?? nothing. Just stood by looking like she wanted to be anywhere else. Yeah, so I tried to not let her energy, or lack of spoil the experience and we landed on a beautiful bridesmaid dress and will order in May coz their prices are hard to beat.
