| - Their macarons are not good at all and very expensive at $2 or MORE for each! I went on their first day open with pure excitement about a macaron shop opening 2 minutes away from my house, only to bite into hard, flat, empty macarons that were heavily artificially flavored and loaded with TONS of food coloring. Yuck! I've had macarons from literally all over the world and these were the most disappointing ones I've tasted. These were also the first macarons I've ever thrown out without finishing them. As a proficient macaron baker myself, trust me when I say the amount of food coloring she adds to the macarons are obscene. I thought maybe it was the first day fluke and decided to go back to give them another chance. When I returned on their grand opening day a few weeks later, unfortunately my disappointment from the first visit was confirmed. Also, I was shocked to see that the owner has very young children working at the counter and in the tea room. They appeared to be very under-aged, elementary/middle school kids. Besides the possible legality issue, they just made the place feel very unprofessional and awkward by giving off girls locker room vibe with ear-whispering and gossiping.
The owner herself was also not very welcoming or personable on both occasions. Her other pastries and tea room menu are also very pricey for what it is and just not that good. If it's good, I'd say the price sticker is worth it. But not the case here unfortunately. The place has decor some may find cute, but if you are looking for authentically delicious macarons and desserts, you'd have much better luck at other bakeries a few blocks down (MA has amazing macarons) or even at Heinen's bakery section for pastries. Both your wallet and your tummy would be a lot happier. (I wanted to write a honest, unbiased review as someone who does not know the owner personally as a friend or family. Hey Sasha K, of course you don't believe I've been to many macaron shops because you don't know me. I'm sorry you haven't had better macarons and were comparing it to Walmart. You see, I was comparing hers to Laduree and other Parisian shops as a food critic. So stop bullying me for leaving a honest review before I report you. Follow your own advice: helps to be nice. That's what Yelp is for.).
