We could have had a great meal. The food was up to steakhouse standards: not the absolute best but good enough to be enjoyed. One friend had great prime rib and I had a good "shoulder" tenderloin and our wives enjoyed soup and sides and I had good asparagus. The wine list had good, reasonably priced bottles of red. Unfortunately, there were several very large groups. That took away servers from regular tables of diners. The only way we got the attention of our waiter was by calling the manager and placing a drink order with him. The waiter was clearly offended but he did provide service after that. Unfortunately large convention groups get to drinking then shout at each other. The atmosphere in the restaurant was unbearable. When the manager or maitre d' came by to ask how things were we expressed our distress but he didn't act impressed. A gesture on his part, such as offering dessert or a simple apology would have meant something. As it is, I think before reserving a table, I would advise prospective diners to ask about large groups. This hotel attracts conventions, I guess. Of course, some restaurants might close to other diners with several dozen in large groups. Bad service and customer disrespect were not intended but resulted from this evening. Obviously this restaurant can do better when it cares to. The Yelp reviews show it.
