Momofuku Milk Fridge is a more fitting name for this poorly-lit walk-in fridge. Connected to the Shangri-La hotel, it's located upstairs on the 2nd floor of Momofuku Noodle Bar. There has never been anyone upstairs to help during the times that I went, though there is a sign on the door that tells you to trek downstairs to pay for your items at the till near the door.
A slice of the crack pie costs $6- it is dense, buttery and excessively sweet with a crumbly shell. I can see how it's popular but personally it wouldn't be something I'd get very often.
The truffles are tasty- they come in a 3-pack ($5) and I find that they taste best cold. Recently had the birthday cake truffles and they tasted good but like they are horrible for you at the same time. They do leave a film in your mouth (grease?) so that's a little gross.
The service has always been indifferent (border-line rude).
Overall, I think Milk Bar is over hyped for what it is. There are so many great bakeries and pastry shops in downtown Toronto, I don't see the need to go out of your way to come here for refrigerated baked goods.
