  • HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! My husband and I booked a flight to Newport News, Virginia for our family reunion. We flew out of Las Vegas on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at 7:05 am to Hartsfield-Jackson Intl Airport and got a connection flight to Newport News, VA. Although we had a delay from Atlanta to Newport News, VA we had a GREAT EXPERIENCE. I commented to my husband that we will only fly Delta. The staff was very nice and this is one of the airlines that still provided free checked/carryon luggage, free movies, snacks and it was a nice plane. THINGS CHANGED ON THE RETURN FLIGHT. Our return flight was scheduled for Sunday, August 14th at 2:37 pm. That flight was DELAYED until 4:49 pm. Luckily we had not checked out of the hotel or returned the car rental. Around 2:30 pm, we went to Newport News Airport to return the car rental and start the airport process for our 4:49 pm flight. Once we returned the rental car, we found out that our flight was DELAYED AGAIN until 8:11 pm There was no way we could wait until 8:11 pm to fly to Atlanta, wait and then fly to Las Vegas and arrived sometime on Monday. After speaking to the check in desk representatives, the only options they gave us was to take a taxi to Richmond, VA (1 hour away) and catch a flight there. At 3:00 pm, we caught a taxi that drove like a maniac while texting. We reached Richmond at 4:30 pm. When we provided the TSA agent with the ticket that was given to us by the Delta Representative at Newport News, VA we were advised they could not accept it because it had PHF - ATL on it. We had to leave the TSA line, return to ticketing to get an updated ticket. We returned to the TSA line and got through. During the boarding process, the boarding representative was rude to several people. We were tired and was not able to go to work on Monday morning. I understand delays happen but NO EXPLANATION was ever provided. Delta is a large company and should have been able to send another plane to accommodate the many delayed passengers. Most people work and have obligations that they need to get back to. PASSENGERS ARE THE ONES THAT KEEP YOUR ORGANIZATION GOING. USE CARE AND CONCERN FOR US. GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE GOES A LONG WAY! DON'T TREAT US LIKE WE ARE A HERD OF CATTLE. WE WILL NOT BE USING DELTA AIRLINES ANYMORE!!! We will be posting this experience to other review sights. April S. & Barry B.
