The overall pleasant color aesthetics and level of service rounds this up from a food rating of 3.5 stars to a 4 star!
I came here for a birthday party (7 of us total) and I didn't know what to expect. I covet Spanish tapas so I was excited but leery at the same time. Casino tapas. Hm.
Our table wasn't ready at the time, but no worries; we stood at the bar and received exemplary service from the bartender until our table was prepared. The atmosphere was jolly but I didn't like that it was so close to a main entrance of the retail area. It gave the restaurant a mall-like feeling a bit..
We had a small variety at our table. Pretty good:
~Tuna cones - Ahi tuna with avocado, cucumber in a fried cone. Very good (I even ate the avocado. Sigh. Avocado.)
~Fried calamari - Really thick strips of calamari. Standard fare.
~Creamy risotto - Wild mushroom risotto was very good! The Manchego cheese creamily blended right in, and the risotto had the right bite and level of seasoning.
~Grilled lamb chop - I don't eat lamp chops, but my table loved them--though they thought the portion was too small.
~Grilled Angus steak - Same as above.
Papas Brava - potatoes with what seemed like a tomato coulis; another standard dish.
~Mixed Seafood Paella *note: there's a wait for this. The lobster was PERFECTAMUNDO. Not dry at all! They even omitted the sausage for me. The paella texture was great, but honestly, it was really, REALLY salty and the portion was huge (meant for two, but if it WAS less salty, I'm pretty sure I would have pounded the whole thing myself.)
-The birthday girl had the Blood orange and raspberry sorbet with cake for dessert. It was a great palate cleanser.
I think one time is enough for me. I would be interested to find another option for tapas my next time through!
