This is more a museum of Charlotte than the entire South. But, Charlotte is a good example of Southern cities and the postcolonial history is interesting, honest and clear. Downstairs is the permanent exhibition. Upstairs is where they have temporary ones. There are spots around both areas for visitors to write comments on sticky notes.
We saw the downstairs in the morning, taking a couple of hours to watch the film and wander through the extensive displays, left to go next door to the 7th Street Public Market for lunch and returned to see the upstairs exhibition in the afternoon.
It was a day well spent. I recommend it for anyone with any interest in our history.
