| - I was surprised to see so many high reviews here. For the price, this place had nothing special about it in my opinion. It has the feel of a chain restaurant, with upholstered booths around the outside and square tables in the center. Nice enough, but nothing imaginative. I saw a tempting looking main course with a combination of scallops and abalone that I think was about $24, but I ended up ordering the scallop dinner that was a special that night which, for some reason, ended up costing $28. It consisted of four scallops in sauce that was nothing special. Yes, they were large and tender (thank goodness!), but... really, $7 each?! For my side dish I opted for rice pilaf which was a mistake. It looked just like something I could have ordered at Denny's. My husband's meal wasn't any more exciting. I would say we won't be going back, except...
I was sad when we presented them with our $100 gift certificate and rather than give us $20 cash back in change (or let us take any tip out of it), they brought us a $20 gift certificate. Really? He said it was policy. I think it was bad karma on their part. They shouldn't have to resort to that kind of arm-twisting to get people to come back. We will be going back with a plan to spend as close to $20 as possible, which probably means dessert, then never again. There are too many other good choices out there.
