| - First and foremost. Get in, get out early. The traffic at EDC is no joke. 3 hours in a parking lot on last day was definitely not how I imagined my morning. I knew what I was getting into but was pretty irked to face it in reality.
Just like many others, I had my doubts for spending quite a lot of money for this event just to hear some music and such. But the energy of this event is thrilling, and the people, most of them, make it really a grand experience. At the end of it all, I really may consider going back. It is certainly something you have to do at least once in your life; however, I'm a little wary at the thought that the amount of people going may grow next year. Ah well, that's in the future for now.
Just some advice for those who go:
* Bring a camelpak.
* Come in early if you want to get on the rides, and leave early to avoid traffic.
* Bring cash. Disregard any comments about "credit" unless you plan on buying EDC merchandise. (Honestly, it's just better to keep track on how much you're spending, which will probably be a lot anyway.)
* Dress light. It's still hot even at night there.
* Remember what you plan on getting yourself into if you move towards the front of the sets, it will get wild. I enjoyed the smaller djs since they didn't have as vicious crowds.
Overall, I would definitely say you need to experience this if you haven't yet. Sure, Insomniac events have started to become overhyped and mainstream, but honestly what these festivals bring to the table surely compensate for it. At this point, I'd just say come in being whoever you want to be, and you'll get the most out of your stay under the electric sky.
Until next time, headliners. ;)
