There was a point during my home renovations where I actually felt like I lived here. I guess that's an easy way to say Home Depot is my preferred renovation store.
We bought almost everything for our renos here except for our wood flooring and paint. Everything else, from tiles to doorknobs, sinks and grout, we bought at Home Depot.
The location is huge, so it tends to have whatever you're looking for in stock. They sell supplies but also rent machines out (such as a tile cutter) for nominal fees. We had to tile a small space and instead of calling the contractor back, we rented a tile cutter and my dad was able to do the work.
I'd say the price point can be a little higher than other home improvement stores (so do your homework). Another downside is the difficulty in finding someone who works in the department you need help on. Often there is only one person with a line of customers with questions. They are prompt when they get to you, but it can take time to either find someone or wait through the line.
