  • Decent casino hotel that's smack dab in the middle of all the Vegas strip action. It's right between MGM and Bally's/Paris, across from Bellagio, and short walking distance to Caesar's and New York New York. It used to be the Aladdin but had its named changed to Planet Hollywood about 1 month ago. Have not been inside the Aladdin in years since it was such a HO HUM and BORING casino and mall but I like the changes they have done to the place since it became Planet Hollywood (PH). PH is now a lot more happening, has more of a hip vibe and sound, and seems to be attracting more young people. Good points: - got a free upgrade to one of their suite rooms - was too low to get a good view of the Strip but got a good view of the pool. Had a bathtub overlooking the pool with tv in the bathroom too along with a regular shower. Two sinks. - conveniently attached to the mall with a lot of stores and restaurants - now a Starwood hotel so you can get points - service was extremely attentive: (a) when there was a long line to check out, a PH lady came by to take out names and rooms down and she said she'd handle the checkout for us, (b) I asked for help to check in online for me and the guy was super nice and did it for me - main taxi entrance is towards the back/side roads so easier to take the side roads to the airport and to the other casinos while avoiding Las Vegas Blvd traffic. - prices seem a bit lower than other casinos right now due to the transition Not so good points: - pool area was very boring. Basically two rectugular pools on top of some of the PH buildings on the 6th floor. Decor was definitely lacking. - the suite we were was big and pretty cool but strangely angular - lots of construction happening all around PH as a part of its facelift and the new PH condos around it - still a lot of remant middle eastern themed items/decorations around at this point from the Aladdin days so they may seem out of place. Bottom line: So glad they are giving the Aladdin a new face and attitude. The PH is a decent place to stay with friendly service. Lots of changes and construction happening but conveniently located. If a cool pool is important to you, this is not the place to go.
