I picked up a prepaid rental car today from Hertz here in Madison (my car is in the shop for a few days) and it was missing a side-view mirror panel and dirty inside. I called Hertz from work to discuss the issue and they told me I'd have to fill out an accident report to exchange or return the car. I let them know I didn't intend to fill out a report when there was no incident or accident during my rental but I'd be happy to provide other documentation of the existing damage. They told me there was no way the car had been like this because they don't rent cars in this condition. They really didn't seem concerned with getting me into a car that was up to standard for the remaining 2 days of my rental. Terrible service, stressful experience.
