I'm surprised at all the rave reviews of Wolfgang Puck's Pizzeria. Was it awful? Nope. Was it great? Nope. I guess I'd go with somewhere in between.
The restaurant itself is located in a great spot. It was a lot of fun to dine in the new and super upscale shopping area at City Center. The atmosphere of the place was nice...I would have liked to sit in the bar area.
We made reservations for our Saturday night dinner and there was definitely no reason to. There were only a few tables full when we arrived at 7pm. Maybe we were there a bit early? I don't know how dinner in Vegas usually works. Either way, the place was fairly empty for a Saturday night. We were given our table immediately and the server greeted us shortly after.
I have to say that if this review was based solely on service...it would get a much higher rating. Our servers were incredibly attentive: our drinks were always full, plates were removed quickly, and the servers were friendly without over-doing it.
Unfortunately, that's where the good news ends. Our food was incredibly disappointing. It wasn't disgusting, but it lacked flavor and quality. The prices weren't overly expensive (especially for Vegas), but I was expecting much more. I have had many a pizza in Phoenix that could easily kick the ass of the margherita pizza I ordered. The mozzarella wasn't fresh and the whole thing tasted fairly commercial. Wolfgang...you really let me down on this one.
So to sum this up...
Service = 5 Stars
Atmosphere = 3 stars
Food = 2 stars
Would I go back? Maybe...but probably not.
