| - Just did my orientation today. It was a 2hr session where the owner Sean and the powerlifter Nigel walk you through some of the techniques of the four big lifts: squats, bench press, deadlift and overhead press. Although I have been working out for quite a few years, had a couple of trainers, became a "certified" pt myself, it is always good to be able to ask questions and have experiened lifters to give you an OK on the forms.
I dont think the environment is intimidating, there are people of all kinds of backgrounds, builds and techniques. There are a lot of serious lifters, for sure, but what I also find is those peeps tend to be nicer than your average fitness snobs.
What they also offer is group classes that cost only 20 a session that go over those above four lifts. If you are new to these lifts I think it would be totally worth it to sign up for a few sessions. I had to spend a couple thousands to hire a PT. Group classes is much cheaper and probably just as effective if not more.
All in all, love at first sight for me, I will update the review once I am here for a month or two. Also after all, it is all about the gains not the gym itself. Lets hope a better environment can bring some more gains, maybe??
