By the time we had arrived at the Distrikt Hotel, it had already been quite THE DAY. Pulled over on the Pennsylvania Turnpike with a flat tire, driving to Pitt in one of the most anxiety inducing fogs, getting into a parking wars battle outside of Nicky's Thai.
That's why when we went to check in at Distrikt hotel and they had no reservation for us due to a mix up with a third party booking site I had just about lost all hope. Thank god we had Daniel with us at the check in desk! He was more than calm and professional throughout all of our trials and tribulations with Algoda (never book with them) and even convinced the 3rd party to refund us for one of our nights due to the mix up. After we told him about out comically horrible time in getting to Pittsburgh he was very sympathetic and put us in probably the best room in the entire hotel. Our room even had its own private button in the elevator and a gorgeous terrace that outlooked the city skyline - very cool!
I think that's what makes Distrikt such a nice place to stay. I know the boutique chain is new to the area and they are still trying to get their grip on Pittsburgh, but it seems like everyone there is very customer service oriented and makes it a priority to put their best foot forward - even when mistakes make a situation particularly stressful. I think once this hotel matures and gets more comfortable in the neighborhood it'll be THE PLACE to stay. Close to Point Park University, the sports stadiums, and some awesome theatres!
Once again a special thanks to Daniel; as well as Tom (in the restaurant) and Jeremy who all provided speedy and friendly service throughout our disaster plagued trip to Pittsburgh! Thank you :)
