I've been planning to come in here for months, but never found myself in the area. I finally stopped in last week for a late afternoon snack. My friend and I each had a slice of quiche (asparagus & cheddar) - and neither of us was able to finish it. The slice was huge and the quiche was very eggy and heavy.
I also bought a few macarons since every raves about these. My overall impression of them: quite nice - infinitely better than the chalky lumps of sugar they pass off for macarons down at MoRoCo in Yorkville. La Bamboche's macaron's are much larger than I'm used to (Ladurée, Jean-Paul Hévin, Pierre Hermé) and even one on it's own is a complete dessert because they are very sweet.
The quality of the meringue cookie was lovely - moist and a little bit chewy, with a crisp dome and a perfectly risen "foot" and the fillings were very creamy.
Flavours I tried:
Yuzu - (if you don't know what Yuzu is, it's a Japanese citrus fruit) - light and citrusy, a bit too sweet.
Pistachio - mild pistachio flavour, too sweet
Salted Caramel - buttery smooth caramel flavoured cream filling, little surprise of salted caramel inside
Chocolate - decent.
Mango-Passion - the least sweet, and therefore most subtle and enjoyable of the bunch
I'd like to come back sometime to try their cakes. They serve Greg's ice cream too.
