  • I had The Best Manicure I've Ever Had here. Seriously. I'd been looking for a place downtown for well over a year now and was even contemplating travelling to the boonies because I couldn't find anything. I'd walked by Polish'd a few times but never thought about trying it until my boss recommended it to me. I am so thrilled I did! I booked an appointment with Bee, to get a fill done. A week and a half ago I had a full set applied because my nails had been peeling and breaking a ton with all the housework I was doing. The other place I went to provided wonderful service but I didn't like the end result (hence no review from me) and I had been tolerating my superthick pornstar nails for far too long. Bee took one look at them, asked me if I liked them that thick (I didn't), and got right to work. To my complete shock and surprise, Polish'd is a drill-free establishment!!! Bee didn't whip out a drill to file my nails down to a pulp! I'd been looking for a drill-free nail salon in Toronto for about 5 or 6 years and had pretty much given up. Back when I was in university, I used to go to Ginger Esthetic Spa in London, Ontario because they were known for not using drills but despite my exceptional Google skills, I couldn't find a place with the same policy until I stumbled across Polish'd. Anyway, Bee hand-filed my nails to minimize damage and got rid of the pornstarness. She also did a great job shaping my nails. I'm wearing them squoval right now and 99% of the time they get filed crooked/slanted to a side. She paid great attention to each nail to make sure I liked it and to make sure it was perfect. She also graciously allowed me to add on a service I didn't book when I requested it - she worked very quickly to accommodate that. And she fixed a nail extension that was about to snap off. Instead of sticking on a new extension, she actually sculpted it from scratch and I must say, she sculpts beautifully. I should've gotten my full set here! Plus her recommendation for a demure-but-not-boring polish colour was spot-on (I work in finance). I haven't been able to stop staring at my nails since! Cons: *as others have mentioned, the premises is very small so the seats aren't super comfy and you don't have much room to put your stuff *can be hard to get an appointment - you must book early, especially if you want to book one of the popular nail techs *I actually didn't have a new set of implements opened in front of me - but they could've been opened before I sat down at my spot *only one pedicure chair, so no girlfriend-bonding-side-by-side pedis here! *basically a Monday-to-Friday operation and I usually prefer to do my nails on the weekend *costs a bit more than other places (but totally worth it) *the evening I got my manicure, I swiped my hand against a wall at home accidentally and my nail got nicked - as in a corner was filed down - but I was able to fix it with a file myself *no nail dryers - so just do yourself a favour and get the gel polish! Pros: *all the ladies are certified nail techs so they know their stuff *there also are some seriously talented nail artists here *the place looks very clean *they use great products - they have Chanel and Deborah Lippmann polishes (although you'll be aggressively upsold to get gel polish by the greeters) *however, it's also totally worth it because they carry Artistic gel polish which is AMAZING (really - i put my nails through such abuse and they are still perfect days later - plus the cure time is much quicker) *the booking system is very convenient to use and unlike all the other places I've tried that use the same software as Polish'd, I actually got the staff member I booked! *they do dry manicures here, which is the correct way to do a manicure and won't damage your cuticles *great colour selection *nice decor *super convenient for those who work in the financial district, like me *I find that the nail techs were nice but not super chatty - though I'm fine with things either way *very responsive communication *good customer service on the phone *an interesting movie was playing right in front of me, on silent but with closed captioning - the one Renly Baratheon was in, lol All in all, this was a great experience and I'm happy to have found my spot! :D
