I was quite disappointed with some information I received. I wanted to get a white tea, one of the types that were sold in a can on the shelf. I checked the can and the first ingredient was APPLE PIECES. I know how some places uses fillers to bulk up their tea, but I thought that Davidstea wouldn't go that route. I was wrong. I asked the young lady at the counter as to why the first ingredient to a white tea was apple pieces and she responded:
"customers have been burning their white tea, so by putting apples it helps it keep it from going bitter"
Are you kidding me?? I know that brewing white tea is delicate and that you have to have a lower temperature. It says so on the brewing instructions. Already using 2 tsp per cup is crazy expensive and pointless since you are drinking apple pieces infused with some white tea.
They say their tea isn't that expensive, but if you brew at least 2 tsp and have a 50g bag, you're not going to get 25 cups from it that's for sure. I had a 25g bag of tea I got as a gift and I made a 4 cup pot of tea with it. I used up the whole bag and the tea tasted bland. Smelled nice, like at the store, but tasted bland. I'm an avid tea drinker, as in, I drink 4-6 cups of tea a day and I don't add any sweetener or milk.
I've also read that they use artificial flavors. I need to know what I am drinking so it won't make me sick (allergies).
