  • Classic diner staples done very well, presented in a locals-only vibe. You won't find many weekend-trippers here. Somewhat off the beaten path, Eddie's is tucked away in a quaint, obscure strip mall/shopping complex in one of the nicest areas of CLT. It will be filled with great patrons that equally match the greatness of the staff. They want you to know that their only interest is serving up damn good food, that's both familiar and comfortable, in a laid back environment. This is your classic neighborhood grill. You will find a lot of familiar things on the menu that are done really well. Their breakfast items are excellent. Everything taste as if it's been cooked the same way for 30+ years. You will notice that 90% of the photos for this place are their signature pecan-crusted chicken and waffles and that's not by accident. You're gonna want to try it. I recently got their version of a breakfast hash with a Southern emphasis (chopped potatoes with peppers and onions sauteed in garlic butter, with sausage gravy, fried chicken, topped with two eggs and a biscuit). Make sure to bring your appetite because you will absolutely need it. Eddie's is no frills, but there is a simple-elegance with their food that you will appreciate. One final note on the food...do yourself a favor and get the gouda and bacon mac n' cheese. Service and pricing: Eddie's is no stranger to great service, having been in the business for many years. Their pricing reflects this as well. They have dialed it in enough to offer awesome price-to-portion ratios, which includes alcohol as well ($3 OMB Copper for starters). The service was fast and friendly, with average wait time for food arrival. Two very well proportioned meals, two mimosas, one beer, and a side of their gouda bacon mac n' cheese was $30...I call that a win. Just like any other place, I'm sure they lack in some areas and have their "off" days, but I have yet to see any shortcomings. If you're looking for a very solid brunch spot or just a casual spot for a really good sandwich, definitely give Eddie's Place a shot. For right now, I'm going with a true 4.25/5.
