While I enjoyed my visit to Johnny Delmonico's, I can't give this restaurant anything beyond three stars because the food just wasn't that great. Our server was very pleasant and attentive, and we liked the classy/cozy atmosphere. Cocktails were tasty. Food, not so much.
-- Calamari app (recommended by server): Quite tasty with a different flavor than expected since it was sweet/spicy with an Asian vibe. But the texture was not good -- it was quite rubbery and overcooked.
-- Tuna au poivre dish: Maybe I made the mistake of ordering something non-steak at a steakhouse, but the tuna and cauliflower were the only edible items on my plate. The au poivre sauce was so over-peppered that my lips felt like they were burning because the sauce was pepper overload.
-- Creme brulee for dessert: Bland (not sweet at all) and over-torched. I don't want to eat creme brulee that's crunchy and burnt-tasting. Do you know how sad that is?
All in all, I enjoyed my time dining at Johnny Delmonico's, but I don't feel that I really got what I paid for, and I doubt I'll go back.
