Ed Roman's World Class Guitars is a legendary institution. Sadly, King Roman is no longer with us but to those of us who were lucky enough to know him we will remember him as a colorful character with a heart as big as the man himself.
It has become commonplace for people to bash Ed Roman because of his appearance, his low tolerance for time wasters and his comparison selling style. I am writing this review as a long time customer from his CT days. I also would ask that any potential customer read his rants (specifically the Guitar Center, Cost Cutting and My Selling Style) and make a decision.
Yes, Ed was sometimes brash, but the man was more passionate about guitars then most people out there.
I have had several guitars custom made by Ed Roman. I first was turned onto PRS guitars back at ECMM. I have what I believe to be one of the largest pre-factory PRS collections out there (17 guitars and 2 basses). When the Quicksilver line started I stopped playing my PRS guitars and IMHO the QS is a much better instrument then the old PRS (Ed actually disagreed) and the new PRSi can not even touch the QS.
I also have a Maximus, Kingpin and Glock.
Many people do not know that Ed was a single parent and the only thing he loved more then guitars, motorcycles and guns was his beautiful daughter Lyndsey Starr. She is now running the business but I would suggest people looking to buy speak with Scott who has a great reputation - even by people who do not like Ed.
