| - One of the pitfalls of downtown living is the dire lack of grocery store access. Convenience grocery stores serve as a stop gap, for instance, when you can't be bothered to trudge all the way down to the Metro and lug groceries in an errand cart back.
Directly opposite Mirvish Village, Village Market offers a great selection of perishable and nonperishable items, with a good range of quality and price points. The produce selection is better than most small markets of its ilk, both in terms of diversity and quality. The staff is also very helpful and friendly.
They also have a good selection of dairy case items like yogurt, milk, soy milk, etc. Another strength is in deli items like presliced meats, cheeses and dips. The only thing I would watch out for at this store is the price of some of the items. For example, a small frozen pizza might cost you somewhere around $7, or a half gallon of ice cream more than that. I'm not sure if its because their frozen stock doesn't move as quickly or I just happened to notice the cost of frozen goods in the past, either way if you need to have it be prepared to pay a hefty price for the convenience.
