  • Gaucho did deliver. I've been skeptical and find some of their signage off-putting. Maybe I'm getting too old or whatever. Anyway, despite them botching our order and totally forgetting one of our entrees, they did fix it on the fly and offered us a free dessert. So, in the end they did the right thing. The root cause ended up being a new, inexperienced person at the register printing out a bad duplicate ticket for the kitchen. So it was not the kitchen's error to begin with. So on to the food; it was absolutely delicious. I've been thinking about that skirt steak since I've had it. I've even gone so far as to call around to butcher shops and ask if they sell skirt (turns out not everyone does). Let me review our order: an Argentino salad with medium rare flank, the grilled winter mushroom salad with medium rare skirt, along with a large order of the grilled shrimp. We ended up choosing the alfajores as our comped dessert. I just wrote about the Rainbow Salad last week at Kaya's and said that it was a salad I would go back for as a meal. Well I guess I have to add the grilled mushroom salad on to that short list as well. The oyster mushrooms were just flame kissed and the brussel sprouts were charred just enough to make the whole salad have a meaty flavor and texture even without a bite of steak. The steak itself was truly spectacular and made my dinner date jealous despite their flank steak being excellent as well. The Argentino salad was very good as well and got rave reviews by my date. The flank steak was cut into thick, meaty slices that were cooked perfectly. Finally, grilled shrimp were excellent. And for a dozen at $18, while not cheap, totally worth the extra protein! In the end, even the impromptu alfajores were delicious. And that coupled with the BYOB made it an absolutely perfect dinner. So, five stars it is, despite the wait.
