| - Ok, so you want people to come for music early and buy drinks. I get that, but please be a little more courteous to your customers when you post start times for the bands. I was told I had to pick up my comp ticket to the show I was going to attend there between 7:30 and 8:00 (concert was supposed to start at 8:00) or it could be given away. So I showed up at 7:45 and the doors were locked. They were finally opened a little after 8:00 but they still weren't ready to admit people. Finally got in around 8:15 but it was clear there wasn't going to be a performance any time soon. Finally (around 9:05) some guy came up on stage and started a manic monologue that the audience (me included) paid no attention to, it was so bad. I came to hear the band Pinback, who were pretty good on YouTube but I didn't know them so I have no idea if this guy was with them or some waste-of-time opener. Bad choice, whoever's choice it was. If even a so-so opening band had shown up, it would have been infinitely better, but a monologue? Sorry, no. About the only interesting thing going on was that the movie Run Lola Run was playing on one of their TVs.
At about 9:25 my phone rang. The unknown guy was still spewing barely intelligible words on stage when I went outside to take the call. I walked while talking and when my call ended I realized I had walked half way to my car. Rather than turn back, I just kept going. I had already wasted more than an hour and a half there and it was unclear when or if the music I had come to hear would actually start. Had Backstage B&B not misstated the starting time by at least an hour I probably would have given it a little more time but I had run out of patience. It was a comp ticket that wasn't worth even that 'price'. Probably won't go back and I am definitely not recommending this place.
The only reason I gave 2 rather than only 1 star is because it seemed like it would be an ok place to listen to a band. I'm just sorry I didn't get to stay long enough to know that for sure. Ironically because it was a work night I only wanted to have one drink and was waiting to buy it until the music started, but I didn't last that long so they ended up getting no business out of me, just this not so good review.
