I'm torn between the stars, so let's call it a 3.5. I like the food a lot. I really like that the menu is very different from most things in the area and healthy at that. What I don't like is the price for the portion. I got a full order of stuffed avocado add chicken. ($2 up-charge) This dish is 1 avocado cut in half and stuffed with quinoa and beans set on a small bed of arugula. While it's delicious, I paid over $10 for the meal, which was gone in about 6 bites total, including the arugula.
This spot has not been very kind to previous restaurants, and with a small portion/high priced menu, I am afraid Coaltranes will not last. It's a shame. Like I said, the food is good and offers a variety, which is super, but people want to feel like their meal is worth the price and not need a snack after the fact.
