First impressions: wow, Lenny Boy has grown up! I remember visiting their old tap room which was a small, but cozy space right around the corner from Sycamore brewing. I'm glad to see the brand is taking off with their creative blend of both kombucha and beer. The new space is a huge improvement with plenty of space and a gorgeous natural wood layout that fits their M.O. pretty well. I went here on a Saturday with some friends and even though the place was crowded, we were still able to find a table outside. A tough feat for a few breweries now that the weather is nice.
Regarding the beer, a fun fact is Lenny Boy is certified organic - I think the only one in NC. They have traditional beers (I like the citraphelia IPA), wild ales fermented with a wild yeast culture (more creative drinking here), and of course kombucha (non-alcoholic fermented beverage) for the non-beer drinker.
It has been fun to see the Charlotte beer scene boom with the addition of many other breweries, but I also have found it fun to watch certain breweries grow out of their starter phase and move into locations that best reflect them as a brewery (think NODA, Birdsong, and now Lenny Boy). Lenny Boy's latest space is certainly an awesome improvement for them and I look forward to going back soon.
