| - Good ol' Desert Ridge Marketplace... used to be nice and bustling, now its dying, sadly. I hadn't been up there in 2 or so years, so I was in for a shock when I went to the theatre a few weeks back. Parking seems to be decent enough as far as spaces go, but its always crowded. Even weirder is how the lots are full, but the mall is usually a ghost town. I don't get it. Regardless, parking can be a hassle at times, and the place smells like sewage more often than not. There are WAY TOO MANY vacancies there. It seemed like a 1/3 of the stores were shuttered. Not good! Inside the mall are the usual run-of-the-mill stores, and a stage for small concerts to be held, and not much else. There is BJ's Brewery which is good, and the Yard House which is semi-decent, but I really don't see a need to ever go back here again. Getting out of the mall at Tatum usually sucks, too. Ive had to wait through 1 or 2 stoplight cycles before, that's not uncommon. I hope DRM picks up where its lacking, because it really is a beautiful place. The entrance off Tatum is gorgeous with the palm trees, and the fire pits, etc. Shame to see it in its current state!
