| - I was in Gilbert for a soccer tournament and decided to try this place since it had over 900 reviews. I was excited to try a new BBQ place with so many positives. The building itself is a pretty cool looking establishment. I went around the side to order takeout at the curb. (They a have a takeout window so you can order from the sidewalk) I ordered the 2 meat plate ($12.99) with 2X brisket and added pulled pork for $4.99. Total was $19 and change. I was really hungry. I was PRAYING it was going to be good in order to justify this ridiculously high price point.
The meat: The brisket was very dry and flavorless. It had a very mild smoke flavor, unfortunately I had to drown it in the sauce to reconstitute it. The pulled pork was ok. It had a hint of smoke and it was at least moist, probably the best part of the meal. But that isn't saying much, I've turned out better pulled pork with a crock pot, liquid smoke and some Sweet Baby Rays.
The sides: The "cheesy potatoes," just a Luke warm congealed scoop of boiled, undercooked and overcooked, slightly mashed potatoes with no sign of cheese anywhere. They were not salted or seasoned, and very bland. Had a few bites and didn't see the need to finish them. The "Coleslaw." Basically, the slaw was 8oz of RTE bagged shredded "slaw mix" put in to a styrofoam container with no appreciable slaw sauce or seasonings. It had a very sour flavor, like vinegar and old cabbage. I tried a forkful, and it tasted like smelled, and that was it for me.
Very disappointed, I was looking forward to something there after a long day in the sun, but all it was, was just another overdone, overhyped and overpriced wannabe big city restaurant. Spend less on the rent and more on the quality of product. No sense in having a beautiful restaurant that serves very subpar food. Sorry to say, I will not return.
