Was it because the shop was delightfully air conditioned? That certainly helped.
Was it because the owner was a joy to talk to, friendly and informative and happy to answer our questions about how the chocolate was made in fascinating detail, her passion for the topic obvious in her voice and demeanor? That's always a draw.
Was it because she gave us free samples? C'mon, everybody loves free samples.
Was it because the chocolate was just *that* good? Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner!
Confession time: I personally don't actually like chocolate very much, but even I could tell it was good. My wife, who is very serious about her chocolate, was in love. She got a box of 16, intending to ration herself to 2 per day, and then ate 13 in the first 24 hours.
