Conveniently located on Penn Avenue and with an adorable name addressing the city, I'm a fan of J'eet. Their Monte Cristo crepe was very filling along with a healthy helping of salad served on the side. It has all the things you want in a Monte Cristo without the deep fried coma you get with the sandwich. I'm also surprisingly glad they serve water at room temperature. I didn't feel like dealing with ice that day.
One problem I have with J'eet is that they butcher the authenticity of crepes like Mad Mex butchers real mexican food. Who the heck wraps their quesadillas into a square? Who wraps a crepe into a burrito? I'm all for innovation in food, but there's something so wrong about wrapping a crepe into those forms. The stretchy, squishy layers of the untoasted, overlapped wrapping form a carb-loaded layer that is bland and unsavory or sweet. I want a half-moon filled with toppings and topped with more toppings.
My crepe also came with melted butter on top that tasted slightly like the refridgerator. One suggestion I have is browning the butter and use it as a topping for all the crepes instead of slabbing on old cold butter. EVERYONE is/will be addicted to browned butter. If you haven't had it, it's a damn shame.
