  • I made a serious and painful error in stopping here during a longer layover between flights. I've had lots of massages, including several excellent ones at airports, of all places. On the surface, this place seemed like the average spa-type business. Pricey, of course, but what do you expect for an airport? I knew I was in for a long flight later, and wanted to release some tension from my back, so I signed up for a deep tissue massage. Again, I'm a massage regular, so I have a strong sense of what I can deal with. The location itself was clean, but incredibly noisy. I'm ok with noise to some extent, but a good bit of this sound came from the staff, not just ambient airport noise. I was escorted to a private room, talked about my areas of concern, then dressed down to my comfort level, and got on the table. The "therapist" (and I'm questioning his credentials) then gave me one of the worst massages I've ever had the displeasure to experience in my entire life. He dug into bone, not muscle or fascia, literally spending most of the massage jabbing at my hip bones or petting skin elsewhere. His nails kept scraping skin. He used very little lotion, so it was chafing, rather than massage. He couldn't seem to get to a pressure between OH MY GOD MY BONES ARE BEING CRUSHED and what I'm calling "giving a baby a bath" stroking. I had to tell him to back off several times on pressure (and I can take a LOT of pressure) and trying not to laugh at being tickled. It was creepy. It was weird. It was uncomfortable. At times he hit actual trouble spots, and those felt much better (which is why I didn't walk out) but he hit them seemingly by accident and in passing. I spent the time trying to figure out what the heck he was trying to do. He ended with some sort of face "massage" which was really him just sort of patting my face then getting down by my ear and whispering "thank you" to let me know the massage was over. Heebie. Jeebies. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. Today, I'm bruised. Physically bruised. I've never bruised after a massage. Because some of those bruises are along my hips, I'm having trouble leaning back in chairs. I feel worse than when I made the mistake of going in there. If you're interested in getting and airport massage, consider instead a place like Be Relax - the ones I've had through them have been solid. Avoid this place, though, because ow.
