| - Tl;dr: Don't come here if you're looking for a prenatal massage.
I've been to this spa once before, but I didn't get any services (just used the facilities) so my latest experience is what I'll be writing about.
My husband and I decided to do a little staycation at the Princess for a mini babymoon, and we also decided to treat ourselves to some massages while we were here. For any pregnant mamas out there, you can imagine my intense excitement and anticipation of an amazing 1-hour prenatal massage. It was going to be the highlight of our stay!
Now, I've had prenatal massages before (I have a membership at Elements) and it's always been amazing. They have special tables that have a hole for your belly so you can still lay on your stomach, and it's extremely comfortable. Knowing that Well & Being is an incredibly upscale spa, I assumed they would at least have the same kinds of amenities as an Elements... I was wrong.
When I showed up for my massage, the masseuse walked me into the room and told me that the bed had "more padding" in the belly area so it would be squishier in that region, thusly allowing me to still lay face-down. I laid down like she suggested, and there was literally zero give for my belly. I'm only 6 months pregnant, and this is my first child, so my stomach isn't even that large - with the amount of discomfort I was feeling, I have NO idea how someone further along than me would be able to even attempt laying face-down.
When the masseuse walked back in, I told her it was extremely uncomfortable and asked if they had a bed with a hole in it. She said no, and then told me that my two options for the massage would either be to lie on my back the entire time (literally defeating the entire purpose of a massage) or I could lay on my side. I opted for laying on my side, and I swear to god this woman had literally never given a prenatal massage in her life. She gave me a pillow to put under my neck, but my arm was just awkwardly sticking out straight off the table. I asked her what I was supposed to do with it and she just said "you can put it under the pillow." I did so, and for an hour I was the most uncomfortable I have ever been. I was constantly having to flex my muscles just to keep myself on the table form falling off - literally the opposite of a relaxing experience. To top it off, the masseuse was seriously barely touching me the entire time. Her rubs were so light, that I basically was just paying to have someone rub oil on my body. I asked her multiple times to use more pressure to no avail. And to top it off, she no joke spent a total of 5 minutes of the full 60 massaging both arms, legs, hands, feet, and neck. The entire experience was the worst massage experience I have ever had in my entire life.
After my massage, I was so upset that I asked to talk to the manager. I gave him the feedback that they are not equipped to do prenatal massages, so they really shouldn't offer them at all, and asked for my money back (I was crying the entire time, btw. Gotta love those hormones). He did oblige, and also offered to have me come back another time for a different service, which I thought was a nice touch, but I'm probably never going to come back. I don't want to take the gamble of having another experience like this.
