| - My colleague, who happens to be handicapped, was discriminated against by British Airways on October 16, 2017 at Sky Harbor International Airport in Phoenix, Arizona. He arrived for his flight 2 1/2 hours early with a friend to help him through security. He was held back from getting to his flight, told that the flight had left when it hadn't, and told directly by a supervisor of British Airways that he probably would have been treated differently if he was able-bodied. This is a direct violation of the Air Carriers Access Act of 1986, which states, "No air carrier may discriminate against any otherwise qualified handicapped individual, by reason of such handicap, in the provision of air transportation."

This isn't "online rage" or a "mob mentality". Notice I haven't mentioned anyone's names in the story. I don't want anyone to lose a job over this. I simply want to see my colleague treated with the same dignity and respect that any able-bodied person gets treated with. I would like to see British Airways extend a genuine apology and appropriate compensation for the humiliation and embarrassment they caused. Until this happens, I will be boycotting their company.
If you are handicapped, don't fly this airline. You don't have to take my word for it. Look at cases like Athena Stevens to see how British Airways treats the disabled. They need to update their policies and retrain their employees.
