| - Overall, Sun Penang was OK, not great. I went with three other people. We got four dishes to share: Pad Thai, Basil Tofu, Green Curry Chicken, and Coconut Fried Rice. The food was good -- nothing special, but fine. One interesting thing is that, as opposed to similar restaurants, the waiter did not ask how spicy we wanted our food. We were fine with how it came out -- though the Green Curry was incredibly spicy. (This was OK with me, but it may not be for everyone.) The coconut rice did not have any coconut flavor whatsoever.
The service was fine overall, but two aspects of the experience were especially disappointing: 1) We went on the hottest day of the summer and, as a result, did not want to sit outside in the heat. The inside was not air conditioned at all and was somewhat uncomfortable. If we had known how uncomfortable it would be throughout the dinner, I might have suggested that we get up and go elsewhere from the start. (This wouldn't have been an issue on a cooler day or in the winter.) 2) When we got the bill, there was a line that said "Rounding" and 4 cents attributed to it to bring the bill to end in a 5. So we were charged 4 extra cents that was not related to the food or to tax. We had never seen this before and thought it was ridiculous!!! Why does the bill need to end in a 5? Or if even numbers are important to them, why didn't they round down one cent so it ended in a 0? In annoyance, we left a tip that made the total of the bill end in 91 cents. I would probably have given three stars rather than two if it hadn't been for this "rounding."
