I want to start off by saying I really wanted this place to be great since I had heard rave reviews about it. My husband and I decided to go for our anniversary dinner. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived on a Saturday night that it wasn't too packed and were seated right away. They sat us at the bar, but we had our own server ( in hindsight I wish we could've just ordered from the bartender). We ordered our drinks - my husband a martini and since I'm pregnant our server suggested an awesome lime juice and soda with a spicy rimmed glass. We also ordered our food since we were ready to order. All was great until that point. We then waited 45 minutes for our salads to show up. I had to ask the server if our salads were coming with our meal or separately. He never came to fill up our water and never asked if we wanted another drink. When the sun set it got very dark in the restaurant and I couldn't see what I was eating. There was a large group of people who were so loud, it made the entire restaurant noise level rise and was unpleasant. Our entree came about 20 minutes after our salads and at that point my husband asked for a glass of wine with dinner.... took another 10 minutes for that to show up. The food was good, not amazing and unfortunately if the service had been better I would've probably gave the restaurant a 4 and I'm tempted to give them a 2 because I was so unhappy when I left. My husband ordered the sausage platter and I think they could've come up with a more visually pleasant plating. I would suggest putting it on a cutting board. It looked and tasted like something I could bar b q in my back yard. I can't tell you what my gnocchi looked like because it was so dark I could hardly tell what I was eating. We probably will not go back. The menu wasn't too exciting and I don't think I should be treated so poorly when I'm paying $100 for dinner.
Pro:
- Food. We had the bib salad with sliced radishes and parsnips and the special salad that came with shaved duck prosciutto. For entree I had the gnocchi (7 out of 10) and my husband had the sausage platter (which was about a 5 out of 10).
- my non alcoholic drink was very refreshing and not too sweet
- hostess was very nice
- love the decor, outdoor seating
Con:
-service. So unfortunate because it looked like everyone else was receiving wonderful service. Our server never even asked us if we wanted dessert, never brought us more water and never asked us how our meal was. He either was very busy (I didn't think it was that busy in the restaurant) or we weren't a priority.
- Noise Level
- lighting
- my husband's martini was basically a shot of vodka with a glass of olive juice. I would not recommend the dirty martini
