A tale of two stores.
Chain Reaction on Dundas St. has a bike shop in the front and a service shop in the back. Either by design or reality they are distinctly different experiences. They do share one thing: On first impression, both businesses leave you feeling like you are an inconvenience but once they establish that you cycle (vs. Own a bike) or you are a woman, they warm up a tad.
The store has knowledgeable staff, a good selection and relatively decent prices (for a bike shop).
The service shop is the bicycle world's equivalent of the soup nazi. Booking an appointment leaves you feeling like you are a neglectful parent with chronic halitosis. Their rates are criminal and their bedside manner suggests that all bad things, be it about your bike, climate change or the price of gas is your fault... and your a dumb ass. They are so bad that they make Sporting Life look good.
With so many options in the hood, don't waste your time here.
