  • This company has lots of poor reviews, so I thought I would share my recent experience with Cardinal Moving Systems. We were moving from Phoenix to Chicago, and did a lot of shopping around. All the major van lines were quoting over $3000 for our move, and then we found Cardinal. Their initial quote was half the price of the other guys, but we were weary based on the negative reviews and poor rating with the BBB. From the start, my sales person, Luke was excellent. Cardinal did not perform an in-home estimate, but took a very accurate inventory list of our belongings over the phone. Prior to our pickup, I called Luke with some concerns about the reviews I was reading. He assured me my quote would not go up, unless there was a variance in my inventory. He told me that moving companies usually have mixed reviews, and sometimes other companies post fake reviews to hurt their competitor's reputation. I wasn't sure if that was true, but we were on a tight budget, so we took a chance. Pickup day arrived and the movers were very professional and very careful with our stuff. Everything was wrapped in plastic and blankets, and nothing was broken at time of pickup. They were on-time and very friendly. The estimate was higher than the initial quote by $500 for two reasons. The first was our belongings were not all listed in the inventory list. Our boxes varied in size from large, medium and small, and we had a few extra suitcases that were not listed. I cannot fault Cardinal for this, however when doing the estimate, be as accurate as possible. They quoted us 25 medium size boxes, but in reality, the boxes were not all medium size, even though there were only 25. The second thing that causes the price to go up about $200 was crating of our beds. This pissed me off a little, because I felt the sales rep should have known about this, but apparently it was overlooked and ended up costing me money. Small thing, but I thought it was worth mentioning. About three weeks later our stuff came to Chicago. The delivery team was also very friendly and came on-time. Absolutely nothing came damaged. Everything was wrapped in the blankets and plastic from the time of pickup. We were very pleased. There were no extra charges at time of delivery. There was one small problem here, they misplaced one item, the base to our kitchen table. The driver said it must have accidentally ended up in another shipment and they would contact us in a couple days to arrange delivery of the base. Long story short, two weeks later our table base was delivered. Communication from the dispatch was poor, and I called multiple times over two weeks to get an update, only to be told it was coming in the next couple days, over and over again. Finally it arrived, also not damaged, and the driver who brought it was friendly and apologetic. Overall, our experience with Cardinal was not bad. The entire process from pickup to delivery took a little over a month, but nothing was lost or damaged. The price was still over $1000 cheaper than other major van lines. I would recommend Cardinal Moving Systems, but make sure to take time and review EVERYTHING you are moving on the inventory list to avoid extra charges. Brian
