I had always avoided this place, a sense that it was probably dark and dreary with a residual miasma of spilt beer, tobacco, and fried food. I was only partially correct. It is indeed dark and dated (think 1985) but the food was surprisingly good. I order a fail-safe burger complemented with fresh green beans, both excellent. That said, it's the quintessential Irish pub with beer aflowing and 20-somethings clad in t-shirts proclaiming collegiate good times.
