Drove by this location multiple times and finally decided to try it out. Now, Basil has a couple of locations outside of the Charlotte area and I've eaten at their Charleston and Columbia locations before and enjoyed them both very much. Can't say the same for the foods for the Charlotte location. We ordered the papaya salad (has a weird taste to it, not flavorful and looks creamy -- kind of different to the type of papaya salad I was expecting), Tom yum soup, chicken larb, beef salad and the basil duck. Out of the 5 items we ordered, only the basil duck was worth the money. It was juicy! Definitely a hit. The rest... I could careless for. Had better at other restaurants and DEFINITELY better at their other locations for which the flavors were much more on point and more "authentic". Must be a kitchen differences. It's true that the restaurant has such yummy aroma walking to the place but the foods didn't live up to that hype.
Service was good even though it was a busy Saturday night. It seems like we were the only table in the restaurant that the manager(s) or whoever they were made a point to kept coming back to check on us. Not exactly sure why...but thanks?
