Just pure incompetence is the best way I can describe it. I just ordered Internet, and had a modem so I thought it would be easy. Nope. Connected up the modem and everything on my side checked out. So the day after service was to be activated I noticed the modem was working fine, but no Internet access.
So i called tech support. Their automated system seemed to have the wrong address associated with my phone number, so it was running test on the wrong house. I transferred to an technical support and was hung up on. So I called sales knowing that this would get through. Eventually I learned that my Internet didn't work because nobody from COX ever asked for or entered my modem info into their system.
I go to pay my bill on-line, but can't because i get a "SYSTEM ERROR" from their system. And i get a letter from them saying i will need to pay a deposit because i have a "bad credit history" which is absolutely false. I'm not sure I've seen ANYTHING they do actually work the first time.
So the Internet is slow, especially during dinner time.
My recommendation is, if you have any other option for Internet, explore it first before getting COX.
