| - I want to like Joes Auto. The people seem pleasant and honest, and appeared to be fair and reasonably priced when the power steering pump died in my not quite 4 year old car. The dealer wanted to charge $1200, so when Joes said $400, I thought we were getting a deal, and the dealer was just trying to rip me off.
All I can say is, thank goodness I am obsessive about saving all the receipts for my car repairs!
Just 2 months later, I was having the same problem with the car: incredible amount of leakage, and difficult, noisy steering. When I brought it to Joes that time, I didn't mention that the same vehicle was in their shop just 2 months earlier for the same issue. I thought.....hmmm, what are they going to tell me THIS time?
Lo and behold, Corey the manager calls and tells me it's the power steering pump. What??? At that time, I told him that the car was there before, and they replaced the power steering pump at that time. He was SURE that it couldn't have been at Joes Auto, and if it was, it must have been a different vehicle. Since I had the paperwork, I brought it in to show him, and it was definitely the same shop and the same vehicle. Corey did a lot of backtracking, but they did repair it again.
When the car started acting up AGAIN, we obviously didn't take it back to Joes. The new shop said it was an aftermarket pump, which would probably be okay to save a little $, but they also said that the hoses and clamps were all original and cracked....so wouldn't it be reasonable to assume that Joes would have replaced those also?
P.s. The new shop fixed it all up for a fraction of the cost that Joes charged and my car is now running like new!
