After visiting Karben 4 we walked over to Alt Brew to check out some more Madison goodness and were kind of disappointed. The brewery is nice...there's plenty of seating and there's even games strewn around to play with while you're hanging out. The staff is nice too...they work hard and are very accommodating. Even the brewery 'idea' is nice too...it's refreshing to see more gluten free options out there for people who need it (especially in beer form...ciders probably get real old real fast). BUT, for people who don't need to have gluten free beer, this just might not do it for you. The beer was average (compared to beers with gluten at least) and the food didn't appear to be much more than average either (though I didn't try it so I can't really say).
I've said this before and I'll say it again. I hate to hate on people's brews. I know how hard it is to make a decent beer. It can only be harder to make a decent gluten free one. That said though, this place just wasn't for me. Sorry, Alt Brew. I wanted to like you. As it turns out though, I really like gluten more.
