This was my favorite hike in Lake Mead National Park. There is a parking lot but, slow down when you get close because we almost missed the turn off.
The trail will start out being well worn in to sort of choose your own adventure style. We didn't do the entire loop but, we hiked up to the higher rock formations, took pictures, enjoyed the view and met an awesome family that is traveling the country and homeschooling their kids for a year. The rock formations are beautiful and it's very easy to climb up on areas at the beginning of the trail. Climb up and look towards the parking lot area to take in the mountain and valley views. It's absolutely breathtaking.
Make sure you are paying attention on the trial because there is critters of all shapes and sizes. Bug spray is a really good idea and don't stick your finger into any dark holes or cracks.
This area is dog friendly and I would recommend tennis shoes at the very least and please make sure you bring enough water because there isn't any water access provided here. There are also picnic areas with covered tables and garbage cans. Make sure you pick up after yourself.
