| - I went to Supercuts and contrary to most of the reviewers here, had a great experience. I went in the middle of the afternoon but it was a few days before Thanksgiving and they were shorthanded but I only had to wait about 30 minutes which I really did not mind, and the stylists checked on me at least twice and apologized for the wait.
The stylists were very nice and were particularly sweet to an older lady, it was very nice to see a service person being genuinely nice to someone. At the end of every haircut, the floor was thoroughly swept and tools were cleaned so I had a completely different experience than other reviewers. The place was very clean and when one of the stylists got a little chilly, they even turned on one of the old fashioned hair dryers to heat up the room a bit.
When it was my turn, I explained I was donating hair to charity and gave them the paperwork. When I apologized for not bringing a hair elastic, the stylist said they have kits for donations so I was all set.
She took a lot of time to carefully gather my hair in an elastic and measure for the donation. During this, we talked about what style to cut my hair. After cutting off the pony tail, again she took a lot of time giving me a really nice hair cut.
Finished we met at the register and she told me that my hair cut would be free. I guess they have an agreement w/ Locks of Love that they coordinate the paperwork, ship off the donation and (I'm guessing) gets reimbursed or partially reimbursed for the haircut donation. I can't give to that charity they won't accept color treated hair but she said since I *was* donating hair, she'd give me a free cut anyway. I gave her a tip equal to about half of what a haircut would be as a thank you.
Even if I had paid for the haircut, I'd still give this location 5 stars. It is not a chic, fancy salon, but frankly I'm not a chic, fancy girl. I felt welcome and very comfortable here. The other thing I liked is that I was not pressured to buy product or upsell to a shampoo or other services, which many other places (Philip Pelusi I'm talking to you) do. Yet if a person wanted some styling product or shampoo, they are well stocked.
