The visit to Second City was one of the biggest highlights of my trip to Toronto. The show we attended was called "Rebel Without a Cosmos" and it was a real treat. I'm a huge fan of sketch comedy to begin with and this cast had my laughing from start to finish. I loved the diversity of characters and was floored by the range of acting required to portray them. I also really appreciated that even though it was a series of separate sketches, there were a few running gags that really tied the whole thing together.
The theatre is laid out cabaret-style meaning that you need to be prepared to share table-space with your fellow patrons. Drinks and food are served at the beginning of the show and at intermission and the staff are well trained to inconspicuously drift through the crowd while the show is going on. I barely noticed them at all.
Some helpful tips?
-They do not take debit for food/drinks during the show so make sure you have cash or credit on you.
-Reserve some time before the show to check out the photos and memorabilia hung all over the walls. It's really interesting seeing the history of the theatre company and all the notable faces who performed there in days past.
