| - Most of the time, if I stop into the Goodwill on Sardis Road North, I find whatever it is I've come looking for. I've completed several costumes with pieces I have been fortunate enough to discover secondhand.
However, my experiences with this Goodwill are mostly donation drop-off -- and those occasions have been mostly unpleasant. There's a younger man who has been quiet but helpful when I'm handing off bags and boxes of items, but the older gentleman who works the donation drive through is a terrible ambassador of the Goodwill brand. He takes his job too seriously, and treats me poorly every time our paths cross.
The first time this happened, I gave him the benefit of the doubt. Everyone has a bad day. But after several encounters, it's clear that he's just rude. If I dare to step out of my car while someone else is unloading at the drive through, I get a "MA'AM. If you'll WAIT, I'll be with you in just a minute." He chided me again when I set a bag down while I gathered more donations. "NO. If you start piling things up, the folks behind you are going to do the same and this whole parking lot is going to be full of STUFF."
I support Goodwill because I understand the work they do in the community and the employment opportunities they create. I'll continue to donate. This man, however, makes me want to take my goods elsewhere.
