The food was great - hearty, hot and tasty. I had the peppered steak pasty and my dining partner had one of the pasties with the red wine gravy. The "chips" were just okay (we had them with garlic and jalapeno, next time we will try just garlic). Our server was friendly and attentive.
Please note that this is the only one of the three locations that is Yelp classified only as "British" and not also as "Pub". This seemingly minor detail seems to be not so minor after all:
- Both of the English ales on draft were not available (we wanted English beers with our pasties! Had to settle for a German hefe...)
- While the restaurant was pretty busy, the bar was practically empty. I have never seen so many grown adults ordering lemonade in my life (welcome to Mesa!)
- We were really looking forward to playing darts, but unfortunately a family of four (2 adults and 2 small children) was hogging BOTH sets of darts AND the pool table next to the darts
SO, if you are wanting a place to drink lemonade and teach your young children how to hang out in a bar and play billiards & cricket, this location is for you (there were other families lining up for Billiards while we were there). If you are wanting more of a British Pub type scene to go with your British food, I would try one of the other two locations (which we will be doing next time we crave the goodness of a Cornish Pasty).
