| - I've been twice, the $17/tube is worth it because you won't have to buy a Tonto National Forest parking pass, there is security in their lot, and you get a bus ride to the start of the float and back to their parking area. The down sides are, you have to bring a sheet to wrap around your tube because it's black and black + sun = ouch! If you tie the sheet too tight you can't get your bum down enough for it to be comfortable and you will end up doing 1/4 of a crunch for six hours. If you tie the sheet too loose you will have to remind yourself "butts up" over rapids and shallow places or you will hit a rock. You have to reapply sunscreen every time you start to feel even a little hot or you WILL burn - this is not a reflection on the business, just a useful tip. You will want to tie groups together, but you should not. Just use your appendages to group yourselves because someone is going to do something stupid and you will probably need to bail or risk falling out of your tube and loosing something important, like your keys. Consider oars, if you don't want to lug them around, flip flops on your hands make pretty good steering tools but prepare to feel the burn (not just sunburn) the next few days. Don't bring anything you cannot stand to loose. Always have a dependable buddy with a spare key who can bail you out with just one call. Pack in, pack out!!! Always collect just as much trash as you brought in, preferably more because other people can be thoughtless or sometimes accidentally lose their trash.
